Let Me Run Freely (Goodbye, Tumblr)

I bid farewell to my Tumblr tumblelog. The creation of this site makes my Tumblr redundant. Because I find FriendFeed a much fuller and automatic tumblelog, I primarily used Tumblr as a blog for longer posts. This is the worst way to use Tumblr! It is designed to easily share links, images, etc, and it is far more tedious for blog posts than other blogging tools, such as WordPress. I have found Tumblr's interface to be a bit clumsy and dumbed-down, which is probably a good thing for a non-coder audience. Additionally, newer, more robust services have emerged (take a look at Posterous) that make Tumblr's approach less appealing.
I have seen some great Tumblr tumblelogs...Ethan Bauley's is quite informative and uses the service in a way that makes sense. I have enjoyed some of the image-heavy, design tumblelogs as well (visit the featured artists to lose a bunch of time happily surfing). There are new features being added and their passionate, core userbase will no doubt continue to keep them alive.
I debated moving my Tumblr posts over to this site, but after considering the hyperlink nightmare that would create, I've decided to leave them there as an archive and figure out how to include them in this site's search results down the road.
So long and good luck, Tumblr.
